I always agreed that the creation of false or exaggerated perfection that media and the likes of fiction, movies, songwriters lyrics and so on potray is a great diversion from our beliefs.Islam in its boundaries is enough for us to enjoy life in moderation and YES we have to make sacrifices to acknowlege our testimony.As muslims, we have to let go of alot.Addictions certainly is among.As bad as alcohol, everything that destroys our real is indeed our enemy.We marry imperfect men not perfect angels, we live imperfect lives and in ourselves are all imperfect women so enough of the deciet and lets face reality.Islam is worth dumping our addictions.I really have enjoyed reading this and Susu your comment rocks!Nusrah and Jami (wink wink 2 u)Good work sisters.

lessons from confessions of a sister alike.Thanks for sharing.I’m sure this will encourage sisters that are in the hesitating phase of wanting to wear the hijab.My advice is that Allah never puts upon us what is not best for us.If He says Hijab, Hijab it shall be.No questions, no queries, no modifications.May Allah bury us deeper in our practice of Islam.amin

Please, please sisters and brothers….when sharing data with others, check the facts. I hear muslims time and again trying to do a Thomas Aquinas by merging science and religion. The fact is that the sex ratio in the world actually favors women, not men. It has for a long time remained more or less even, that is 1:1. Check the CIA world fact-book, wikipedia, etc.

Just yesterday I was reading about breastfeeding and islam. As I understand it we are commanded to breastfeed for two whole years. To breastfeed well is to be with baby constantly, regularly. As I see it, that means no employment IF humanly possible. I wish I could source this but the phone that I’m typing on won’t allow. Allah provides us with a clear family structure and behaviors. The closer we follow that the better off we’ll be now and later.

I chose a husband sololy because he was the first pious guy to offer marriage, though not without discussing it a lot with Allah to make sure He wanted the marriage. And blessings and mercy have followed. While it goes against the grain, Allah knew better than me, or anyone in my particular family, or social circle, who was best for me. And He delivered : )

What inspiring, lucid writing. And it reminds me that the biggest blessings in my life have followed my utter relinquishment to the will of Allah. Trust. Nusrah reminds us of how difficult it is to “hand over the reigns” to Allah (do what we’re supposed to do). But Nusrah reminds us that blessings will follow in this life and the hereafter. Blessings like loving, pious husbands, children, and sisters to have dinner and halaqa’s with. Thank you, sweet sister, for your encouraging words.
